IMPORTANT – READ CAREFULLY. By downloading, installing, creating an account, or using the Renter Shield app (the "App" or "Service"), you expressly acknowledge and agree to the following Terms of Service and Release of Liability. Your use of the App is expressly conditioned upon your acceptance of these Terms.
You must accept these Terms before you can access or use any part of the App. By tapping "I Accept," "Continue," or otherwise accessing the App, you confirm that you have read, understood, and voluntarily agree to be legally bound by these entire Terms, including all disclaimers, limitations, and releases contained herein. If you do not agree, you must immediately uninstall the App and cease all use.
Renter Shield provides informational tools, templates, and organizational features only. This includes (but is not limited to) communication templates, lease agreement generators, rights information, evidence storage, payment tracking, and related features.
THE APP AND ALL CONTENT ARE FOR INFORMATIONAL AND ORGANIZATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY. Renter Shield is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice, legal representation, or legal services of any kind. No attorney-client relationship is created by your use of the App. All templates, information, and features are general in nature. You are solely responsible for reviewing, customizing, and determining the suitability of any content for your specific situation. Laws vary by jurisdiction and are subject to change.
You expressly assume all risks associated with your use of the App, including but not limited to: the accuracy, completeness, or applicability of any template or information; any consequences resulting from sending communications or agreements generated through the App; any decisions you make based on content within the App; and storage of documents or personal information in the App. You acknowledge that you are using the App at your own risk and that Renter Shield has no obligation to verify the suitability of any content for your needs.
THE APP AND ALL CONTENT, FEATURES, AND TEMPLATES ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT ANY WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, STATUTORY, OR OTHERWISE. THIS INCLUDES, WITHOUT LIMITATION, WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, AND ANY WARRANTIES ARISING FROM COURSE OF DEALING OR USAGE OF TRADE. Renter Shield makes no representations or warranties that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or meet your requirements.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW: Renter Shield, its owners, officers, directors, employees, agents, affiliates, and licensors shall have no liability for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, punitive, or exemplary damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, data, goodwill, or other intangible losses.
For users with a paid subscription, Renter Shield's total aggregate liability for any and all claims arising out of or relating to these Terms or your use of the App shall not exceed the total amount you actually paid to Renter Shield for the subscription during the twelve (12) months immediately preceding the claim. For free users, Renter Shield shall have zero liability for any claims. You agree that the limitations in this section are a fundamental basis of the bargain and that Renter Shield would not provide the App without these limitations.
Refunds are not provided for change of mind, dissatisfaction, or any reason other than a final, non-appealable court judgment finding that Renter Shield is legally required to pay you damages. In the event a court awards you damages, such damages shall not exceed the total subscription fees you paid to Renter Shield in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim. This clause is intended to limit Renter Shield's financial exposure to the amount you have paid for access to the Service.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, you hereby release, waive, and forever discharge Renter Shield and its owners, officers, directors, employees, agents, and affiliates from any and all claims, demands, damages, actions, or causes of action (whether known or unknown) arising out of or related to: your use of the App or any content, template, or feature; any communication, agreement, or document you create or send using the App; any alleged inaccuracy or incompleteness of information in the App; and any decision, action, or inaction you take based on the App. This release applies to all claims, whether based in contract, tort (including negligence), statute, or any other legal theory.
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Renter Shield and its owners, officers, directors, employees, agents, and affiliates from and against any and all claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or related to: your use of the App; any content you generate or transmit through the App; any violation of these Terms or applicable law by you; and any dispute between you and a third party (including landlords, sub-tenants, or others).
These Terms shall be governed by the laws of the State of Oregon. Any dispute shall be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Clackamas County, Oregon. You waive any right to a jury trial and agree that any dispute will be resolved on an individual basis only. You expressly waive any right to participate in a class action, class arbitration, or collective proceeding against Renter Shield.
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Renter Shield and supersede all prior agreements or understandings.
Free plan. Renter Shield offers a free plan that does not require a payment method. It includes core rights information, emergency resources and legal-aid links, the core eviction-response letter, basic tools, and viewing your own saved data. These remain available on every plan, free of charge.
Subscriptions. Paid plans (Essential and Pro) are offered as annual subscriptions at the prices shown in the App and on this website. Annual plans are billed once per year and renew automatically until cancelled. Prices may change on a going-forward basis with notice, applied to the next billing period.
One-time purchases. Certain items — including a Single Professional Form Letter and the Crisis Response Pack — may be purchased individually. One-time purchases are not subscriptions: they are charged once, do not renew automatically, and do not require an ongoing paid plan.
Cancellation. You may cancel a subscription at any time from your account or your app-store settings. Cancellation stops future renewals and takes effect at the end of the current billing period. After cancellation the App continues on the free plan; your saved photos, documents, and notes remain on your device and stay viewable. Exporting the Evidence Vault is a Pro feature. Refunds are governed by Section 6 and by the applicable app store's policies.
You may delete your account and data at any time via the account deletion page. How we handle data — including that we do not sell your personal information — is described in the Privacy Policy, which is part of these Terms by reference. Questions: support@rentershield.app.
